GroYourBiz Press Release
The night is nearly here for the <ahref=”http://www.ywcavan.org/content/2013_Women_of_Distinction_Nominees/1712″ title=”Women of Distinction Nominees 2013″ target=”_blank”>nominees of The  YWCA Metro Vancouver Women of Distinction Awards. They have been working hard for the charity of their choice, for the award of $10,000 from the sponsor Scotiabank. The winner will be decided by the nominees ability to raise the most awareness by getting votes for their category in “The Connecting the Community Award”

Barbara Mowat of GroYourBiz, has been nominated for the “Entrepreneur ” category this year and would like to thank Joanne Gassman, Sr. VP, BMO, Bank of Montreal, for BC & Yukon for the nomination. She is honoured to be among the other wonderful leaders in the local communities. Supporting letters from Leslie Meingast, CEO, The Personnel Dept. and Michelle Pockey, Partner, Fasken Martineau du Moulin have been a wonderful addition to the honour of the nomination as well.

She chose “Child Poverty” for the “The Connecting the Community Award” because the average number of children living below the poverty line in BC is 119,000 – about the same as the total populations of New Westminster, Esquimalt, Cranbrook and Williams Lake combined.

On Tuesday May 28th, the sold out awards dinner will be held at the Westin Bayshore, in Vancouver BC. There will be a reception and silent auction to support the YMCA Programs.  For more information on the YWCA Metro Vancouver’s “reducing child poverty” programs, please click here.
