The most successful entrepreneurs aren’t those who work alone but those who know how to tap into a global network and make connections. At GroYourBiz, we believe that expanding your business on an international level is more than just an option—it’s a powerful strategy. Through global connections, alliances, and mentorship, we’re helping women entrepreneurs learn, grow, and achieve success beyond borders.

But what does it mean to “think global” in business, and why should it be part of your future planning? Let’s look at how GroYourBiz, through its strategic partnerships and alliances, helps women business leaders make that leap.

Empowering Women Entrepreneurs Through Awards and Grants

GroYourBiz has an incredible reach with our not-for-profit initiatives, and it has highlighted how global connections and collaboration can fuel success for women entrepreneurs. At GroYourBiz, we’re all about fostering those relationships that allow you to learn, grow, and thrive—not just locally, but globally. Our alliances and partnerships are paving the way for women business leaders to think beyond borders, and we’re excited to share some of the highlights from our recent initiatives.

GroYourBiz continues to be honoured be being a lead partner for the WE Empower UN SDG Challenge  since its inception in 2018. This first-of-its-kind global competition recognizes women entrepreneurs who are advancing the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) through innovative, sustainable business practices. The WE Empower Challenge provides awardees with training, networking opportunities, and recognition on an international stage, all while advancing the SDGs that matter most to the world.

Barbara Mowat, President & Founder of GroYourBiz had the privilege to meet the 5 new WE Empower UN SDG Challenge Awardees for 2024, women whose work embodies the true spirit of entrepreneurship and global impact, joined by 2023 WE Empower Awardees, Diana Mbogo and Susan Blanchet, who are now GYB Members.

GroYourBiz also proudly supports initiatives that empower women through recognition and financial support, such as the BMO Celebrating Women Grant Program. BMO is committed to breaking down barriers and advancing women-owned businesses by offering grants, mentorship, and resources. Since its inception, this program has supported over 56 women-owned businesses across North America, providing over $500,000 in grants.

Through the BMO partnership, GroYourBiz members were encouraged to apply for these grants, which not only provide financial support but also connect women with an incredible professional network and mentorship opportunities.

GroYourBiz was honoured to meet last week with the BMO Celebrating Women Grant Recipients, represented by Marg Hachey, Managing Director of GroYourBiz, and supported by GYB members Joanna Blackmore, Julie Christiansen, and Julia Suppa.

Why GroYourBiz?

GroYourBiz is more than just an advisory board—it’s a movement. It’s about creating opportunities for women to mentor, collaborate, and support one another. It’s about recognizing that when women come together, they can achieve incredible things.

Just remember….The opportunity to be recognized on a global level for your contribution to society is a game-changer, both for you and your business. As Barbara Mowat puts it, “Being recognized locally, nationally, or internationally can elevate your business, give you credibility, and help open doors to even more opportunities. At GroYourBiz, we encourage our members to apply for awards and grants because recognition not only celebrates your success but inspires others to follow your lead.” For a complete list of Barbara’s awards, please visit here.
